Current Employee – been working at 1-800 CONTACTS full-time for more than a year
Pros – Very inexpensive subsidized meals.
Robin hood health care approach (employees who make less, will pay less)

Decent base pay (recently raised to $12.00 to start)
Huge incentive possibility ( up to $6.00 extra per hour)

I started working here early 2011 in the prescription verification department. I was struggling with an emergency room bill of about $1,000 dollars and they ended up paying the entire thing with their one time employee assistance program THE SECOND MONTH I worked there...
My first manager was the best leader I've ever had, and treated me like an actual person... Something I've rarely experienced at other jobs. After 1 1/2 years, I was promoted within. I have seen over 40 manager / Qa coach / Workfroce / IT positions open up in the time I've worked here. So needless to say there is a lot of room to move up.
Cons – At one point they raised base pay to $12.00 an hour, and new employees were making as much as I was. (Even this is hard to complain about, as I got an unexpected raise.)
My only real con, is that after my promotion I am now making less, as I was given a raise that is not equal to what I have and could potentially bonus as a regular agent.
Advice to Senior Management – Revise the pay scale for employees promoted within, at least matching their pay.
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company
