A place to gain some experience, but there is a reason there is such a high turnover.

I worked at 24 Hour Fitness

Pros

You stay healthy while working with like minded individuals that care about their fitness and health. (some take it a little overboard)
You see a lot of clients, become comfortable with approaching individuals
You get a free membership, and somewhat of a discount

Cons

High pressure to always be better, I was Top Sales in the county one month, and the next month was slower, and was already being discplined for it.
There are some employees that will try to "steal" your clients, (AKA your money)
Managers first goal is meeting sales goal for their bonus, everything else comes second

Advice to ManagementAdvice

It's a business and everyone gets their goals from corporate, but at least try to pretend like you somewhat care about your employees. It was obvious the whole time they did not care what you were doing, how you were doing it, as long there was $$$ at the end of the day. It sounds good, until you have people lying and cheating customers!

I have been working at 24 Hour Fitness

    Pros

Working front desk is a great way to meet all kinds of people and learn how to positively communicate with others. The job is simple;check members in and respond in a cheerful manner using their names. We handle payments on accounts, change of member information, and sometimes signing up member among other things.

    Cons

Members aren't always so easy to get along with. Sometimes it seems as though 90% of the people that enter the club have no common sense or manners. The majority of them are looking for hand outs and what ever they can get or free.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give the employees a reason to want to come to work and be proud to share heir knowledge and help to others. There aren't many incentives or recognition when you do well but if you make a mistake, you know ASAP.
