A place to gain some experience, but there is a reason there is such a high turnover.

Pros

You stay healthy while working with like minded individuals that care about their fitness and health. (some take it a little overboard)
You see a lot of clients, become comfortable with approaching individuals
You get a free membership, and somewhat of a discount

Cons

High pressure to always be better, I was Top Sales in the county one month, and the next month was slower, and was already being discplined for it.
There are some employees that will try to "steal" your clients, (AKA your money)
Managers first goal is meeting sales goal for their bonus, everything else comes second

Advice to ManagementAdvice

It's a business and everyone gets their goals from corporate, but at least try to pretend like you somewhat care about your employees. It was obvious the whole time they did not care what you were doing, how you were doing it, as long there was $$$ at the end of the day. It sounds good, until you have people lying and cheating customers!

I worked at 24 Hour Fitness

    Pros

free gym membership, easy work, majority of employees were good people, certain managers were appreciative of hard work, excellent workout information and facilities available.

    Cons

tendency to promote young college students over hard working long- time employees. a great deal of favoritism shown. many cuts in upper management jobs due to budgeting, replaced with lesser quality people.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

24 hour fitness has the potential to be a great place to work. there needs to be a better connection between corporate and lower - level employees. club management for the most part is collecting an easy salary.
