I worked at 24 Hour Fitness full-time (more than an year)

Pros

The benefits are excellent. Free gym access to all clubs. The culture is great too. You are surrounded by great people.

Cons

It seems that your direct supervisor is supportive but north of that they seem intimidated. Don't think you can move from club life to corporate life. They won't let it happen. Poor compensation plan. New compensation plan was said to favor employees but it did the opposite, especially for employees that were previously on commission

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Encourage growth into all areas of the company.

I worked at 24 Hour Fitness full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    1. Tend to promote from within
    2. Big gyms are more energetic than smaller ones
    3. Pay can be decent if your club or team is successful on a monthly basis
    4. Clubs are fun to work at if the members like you. Not many jobs offer the opportunity to see 50 of your friends come to your work on a daily basis.
    5. You can work hard and get promoted quickly - tend to be merit based not just tenure based.

    Cons

    1. Little management training in house once promoted
    2. Some clubs are falling apart, hard to have pride and no ability to fix
    3. Some higher level mid-management leaders are out of touch because the business has moved past them.
    4. Company has a tendency to over-promise sometimes
    5. Benefits are just so-so

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Encourage more education, particularly personal development and business training

I have been working at 24 Hour Fitness part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    - Getting to know your customers
    - Free gym membership
    - Very easy job
    - Open 24 hours allows for scheduling for all needs

    Cons

    - Poor base pay (Slightly above minimum wage)
    - Some of the rudest customers I've ever met in my life, and I've worked in fast food.
    - Very backstabbing, conniving managers
    - High turn-over rate of personal trainers, they get mistreated a lot

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Lower the pay of your club managers and distribute among the people actually doing things like the front desk staff and the trainers. Stop conning people into memberships, and perhaps lower the cost of membership as well. I can't believe the price can be as high as 60$! That's highway robbery.
