I worked at 24 Hour Fitness part-time

Pros

Professional, great training opportunities, good regional management

Cons

Instructors are too often forced into "bought" formats such as Zumba, RPM etc. It takes the freedom away from instructors to motivate and construct class in their own unique way.

    I worked at 24 Hour Fitness full-time

    Pros

Free gym membership and trying to help people change their lives for the better. Team Members genuinely love coming to work for the most part.

    Cons

Not getting compensation that is commensurate with experience, knowledge, skill set and company expectations (i.e. not getting paid what you're worth); having to be a janitor in addition to your job duties; *many* horrible department heads, club managers and district managers; managers that dangle the carrot of a promotion for years only to renege on their promise and hire from outside the company; senior executives that are unfamiliar with the day-to-day work and morale of the field employees and local customers/clients/members; silly protocols meant to streamline process but end up hindering the process instead, adding far too much extra work and unnecessary stress (both for the managers and employees).

    Advice to Management

Spend more $ on your employees and improving *all* of the clubs, not just creating big, brand new Super Sports. The Active and Sport clubs need more love (which corporate finally started doing in 2012...just keep it up).

Less robotic coaching, more tailored to employees.
