Pros

Fitness is a great product to believe in. Co-workers are passionate about what they do.

Cons

Recognition at times is difficult to come by.

Care about employees more please.

    I worked at 24 Hour Fitness full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    Free Ultra-level Gym Membership
    Mostly cool customers
    Discounts on vitamins and supplements

    Cons

    Kind of sad when I have to agree with a lot of the customer complaints.

    Some weird characters come in during the overnight hours.

    Overnight shift completely ruins social life and biological clock. You never feel fully rested.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Don't wait for the cruddy club locations to deteriorate further, fix or build new ones.
    Hold off on the whole east coast expansion until the above is dealt with.

    I worked at 24 Hour Fitness full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Very clear expectations about what your expectations are, both for your immediate duties, and for exactly what you should do if you'd like to be promoted. If you want to move up in the company, you can do so very quickly because many others quit or move on. It was fairly easy and encouraged to move from one position or one department to another.

    Cons

    Deviating from your 'plan' or thinking outside of the box is not exactly frowned upon, but it is not encouraged. The plan involves a very straight, hierarchical path, and every manager is very paranoid about what they need to do to get to the next step in the ladder.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Allow more autonomy in individual clubs, with less pressure from regional managers. Put your reputation with customers above your month-to-month earnings, that is already working well.
