I worked at 24 Hour Fitness part-time (Less than a year)

Pros

Free gym membership, majority of people working there were great people. Will promote from within if you are dedicated. Helping clients can be rewarding.

Cons

Pushy sales like most gyms, some managers are not the best. In my case the Assistant Membership Manager. Sales team tried to get me to give out numbers of friends to sell to. This is probably because they may be fired for low numbers.

I have been working at 24 Hour Fitness full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Working with people, promoting a healthy lifestyle, flexible schedules for most positions. The company is very large and still growing, so there is always going to be opportunity for advancement I plan to leave the company and return when they finally sell because it's such a fun industry.

    Cons

Recently, the culture has changed and upper management has gone nuts. The company is desperate to sell and has decided to manage by fear and distress. If you ask any general manager or department manager if they are worried about losing their job, most would say yes. Even the ones who are performing well!

    Advice to Management

Stop with the fear and panic. There are other ways to motivate and inspire a team to perform.
