I have been working at 4C Associates full-time (more than an year)

Pros

Approachable and friendly people (except senior management)

Cons

The company is primarily a procurement outsourcing firm which does small bits of consultancy and has packaged itself as a Cost Transformation consultancy-which is a term which means nothing, atleast in the 4C context. No attention whatsoever is paid to employee development, skill development and neither towards improving their service offering.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

USE the word procurement, because that is what you do and if you are ashamed of it then stop doing it and concentrate on actually becoming a consulting firm.

    Pros

There are some great people in the company. It's easy to talk to anyone, even some of the managing partners.

    Cons

At the moment 4C is a little company trying to be a big one and the employees are getting the worst of both worlds.

Objectives set this year are very generic and do little to motivate people to perform. Chances of a decent bonus are slim because of the way they have been set.

This is not a nurturing company, you are almost always told what assignment you will be doing and left to get on with it. Poor performance isn't tolerated well, rather than management trying to develop you out the rut they tend to prefer to add more pressure.

Being a small company, you are expected to help in the running but this time isn't appreciated, and every few months something extra is added without much being taken away.

It's very easy to get 'stuck' in a client

Getting promoted is a bit like black magic, it appears transparent but is very driven by how much people like you

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Nurture your people and maybe they wouldn't leave so quickly.

I have been working at 4C Associates

    Pros

The only real pro I can think of for working at 4C Associates is that there are some really good people there - until they find somewhere better to work that it.

    Cons

Managers don't care at all about staff wellbeing, I would say 80% of people work at 4C want to leave.
Very limited client portfolio so you basically get stuck out on some business park in the middle of nowhere for months on end.
On their website it says they do cost transformation work - this is absolutely not the case you just end up doing boring procurement outsourcing to ridiculous targets.
    Bad pay
    Ugly offices

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I get that there are some things you can't change right now like the clients or the poor quality of work but you should at least try and make 4C a nice place to work for other reasons by treating employees with respect and not just like commodities.
