I worked at A Place for Mom

Pros

Growing industry and good solid training for a future career path...but not with APFM

Cons

Terrible compensation for the amount of work involved. The quotas have been set way too high and all the creativity and accomplishment has been removed from the position. Management says they are listening, but most of us felt very mislead and many good people are leaving

Advice to ManagementAdvice

They wouldn't listen

I have been working at A Place for Mom

    Pros

You will learn industry terms so that you may obtain a professional position elsewhere.

    Cons

The job is totally misrepresented. The leads they provide are impossible to turn into moves. Mostly Medicaid due to poor lead sourcing yet they keep telling you to "work" them. Before hiring you are told all leads are provided and then learn that you must find your own leads to get paid.
POOR benefits - no vacation pay, 10 cents per mile (industry others pay 55 cents), 55 to 60 plus hours that you are forced to record as 40, goals keep increasing while pay decreases or is impossible to achieve.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop lying to the field staff who pay your salary.

High Company Turnover + Controlling, Arrogant Management = A Place for Mom

I have been working at A Place for Mom

    Pros

The position is a good resume builder for future positions. The office is in a nice location on Lake Union. Monthly transportation subsidies are available and complimentary snacks and coffee are provided.

    Cons

There are very few opportunities for moving up in the company. Within the department, the raise system is based on constantly shifting metrics, so it's very hard to have any standard in place long enough to be able to justify a pay increase. The management team micro-manages insignificant details, but is completely incapable of dealing with real problems. Because of the scarcity of opportunity for upward advancement, employees often resort to using politics to increase their standing. Overall, the company has a very unhealthy work environment.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You can't afford to neglect the core business functions of the company in aggressive pursuit of expansion and growth. Also, most departments require several more support staff and can afford to do away with at least one layer of management. Lastly, more competitive salaries will help you to retain top performers and talent at every level.
