I have been working at A.T. Kearney full-time (more than 5 years)

Pros

- Brilliant minds at every level of the hierarchy
- Passionate people with genuine and inexhaustible curiosity
- Humility, congeniality and cordiality are the firm's cultural cornerstones
- A wide array of Fortune 100 clients; consultants at every level get substantial senior
  executive client exposure

Cons

- Intensive hours; work-life balance can be a challenge but is addressable if one is willing to
be open and honest with one's team about work load and expectations
- Modest research and production support. This dimension has improved considerably over
time but still has a ways to go.
- Heavy operations focus in the United States; light on strategy. This varies by geography
considerably however since the brand perception, though universally strong, is not
  consistent worldwide.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

- Keep working on reinventing brand to attract work beyond the traditional procurement domain

I have been working at A.T. Kearney full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

You get lots of SPG hotel points

    Cons

Bait and switch - they just announced (in Feb 2014) that for 2013, that they are changing the compensation and bonus structure - so they are changing it AFTER the year has happened. They are limiting bonuses and salary increases to only the top 50% of employees, even though everyone works the same hours. The most frustrating fact is that they had us work the ENTIRE YEAR and then told us AFTER THE FACT. Many employees I know did not get a bonus or salary increase this year, only finding after they worked the entire year.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Thanks for screwing over the employees after they put a year of blood, sweat and tears.

Dreadful hours and stress, no bonus, decent work

I have been working at A.T. Kearney full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Decent projects
Typically B clients, but interesting issues
    Some strategy

    Cons

Huge issue with lack of bonus
    Horrendous work-life balance
    Complete faith in rating system
    Lots of cost transformations

A.T. Kearney paid out its bonuses in the very end of February (2014) for 2013 work. Furthermore, A.T. Kearney, a firm that pays under the industry average at the lower ranks, paid no bonus to roughly 50% of employees. [About 15% are getting out-counseled]. The other 35% were not given a bonus. The bonus was completely tied to your annual performance evaluation, a system that is by no means at all perfect - and mostly flawed. Even folks who got promotions in 2013 were not consistently happy with their bonus as a percent of their new salaries.

'Leaving the firm' e-mails have like 5x'd because everyone is overworked and worked for that bonus - they're leaving when they don't get it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Better brand
    Better treatment of employees
    Better staffing of projects
Less abruptly taking people off projects
