I worked at AAA Texas full-time (more than a year)

Pros

The Travel Agent position is very exciting and fast paced.

If you are a people person with an inviting personality, this is a great position for you!

Very in depth training is provided for this position.

Can be a very rewarding and fulfilling job.

Cons

The company is very unwilling to pay overtime, even in the busy season, when you might be in the office an hour or two late every night.

The "Compensation Plan" (Commission Plan) can be very aggressive and ambitious, especially for beginners in the company. If you have a great manager that can walk you through the process and help foster your success, you'll be more than fine. But if you have a manager who doesn't possess those qualities, the job will be a lot more daunting.

The job is INCREDIBLY stressful at times, especially during the busy planning seasons. I only put this in the "Cons" section because if you are not cut out to handle stressful situations, this is definitely not the job for you.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

1) Get back to your roots. Put more emphasis on your employees, in stead of numbers or goals. Yes, those things are important, but with out your employees, you have nothing.

2) Fully stock the offices so that during the highest volume times and seasons, your employees aren't pulling their hair out.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat your front line employees with respect. They are the ones making your money and securing customers. Have management actually interact with staff, not sit in their offices making spreadsheets for corporate, who have no idea what is really taking place in the district offices.
