I worked at AARP full-time

Pros

People are fooled by the brand reputation

Cons

Lying, cowardly management - especially in the Brand Department. Senior management can not be trusted either. Unfair personnel moves to fit internal political agendas. Very slippery and dishonest in avoiding wrongful termination and discrimination charges.

Disapproves of CEO

I worked at AARP full-time for less than a year

    Pros

decent cafeteria; nice building; some nice colleagues; reasonable work hours; headquarters located in an interesting part of Washington; standard benefits

    Cons

Hubris--at least on the part of my managers. Unreasonable job expectations. Lousy gym. Unfair review, both in terms of substance and process. Moody department head.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be aware that some in upper management are way over the top in their estimation of their own importance to the organization.
