Pros

Great customers across multiple industries Strong engineering capabilities Opportunity to be shown how unimportant it is to be an American employee It is so fun and productive to work through a completely new strategy every six months Annual decreases in compensation provide such a delightful challenge to manage

Cons

Management team does not understand the connection between performance and compensation Significant disconnect between stated strategies and management behavior Management promises big and utterly fails to deliver Customers really get fed up with failed services, failed support, and failed follow-through It is impossible to motivate local account managers when they know that their earned contracts and commissions will be taken away by some other ABB business unit

Advice to Management

Bring compensation in line with the market, quit treating your employees like they are disposable annoyances. Learn that people care about how you treat their colleagues because it is a clear indication of your integrity. When you agree to do something, then do it. Figure out that sales professionals expect to earn a reasonable living based on their contributions.

    Pros

This place has no shortage of highly competent people, engineers, PMs, and business leaders alike. The reorganization happened recently should help this once great business unit to stand up in competition by restoring the customer focus and the market share.

    Cons

Hierarchical culture, lack of fairness and respect, lower engineering staff got too much power to exercise the personal practice to the employees, abuse sometimes. People are suffering without hope... No check and balance by upper management.

    Advice to Management

Prosper this business by encouraging good people to perform, removing obstacles, fostering fairness and respect in workplace, and treating the customers well.

    Pros

Pay rate was quite a bit higher than other facilities in the city. Hourly work force was a different situation entirely.

    Cons

Too many mid level managers making decisions rather than a few making good decisions. Not the best way to run a company
