Fast-paced, highly competetive environment based upon 'call-time' statistics and customer satisfaction.

I worked at ACN full-time (more than an year)

Pros

The environment, overall, is upbeat and encouraging for those who are good at multi-tasking, getting to the point, and who are able to pin-point the customer's problems at the outset. The employee must be a good listener, but not so good that they allow the customer to ramble on. The incentives, pay, and opportunity for a schedule which fits your needs are excellent.

Cons

Can be too stressful on the employee, particularly in the way firings are handled. If your call-times are too high (meaning you are actually doing a thorough job helping the customer address their problems), you are given little warning, they call you in to an office with no indication of what is about to transpire. While you are in the office, floor managers are boxing up your belongings, cleaning out your desk, much to the shock and horror of your call center coworkers who can see what is going on. The next thing you know, you are escorted to the door like a criminal, not permitted to even say goodbye and you are out the door. The entire environment changes toward you. Those once happy secretaries who greet you in the lobby, are cold, unsmiling and rude when you go to collect your last paycheck. It can be a very stressful environment to work in, while you watch this happen to coworkers who, according to the praise and high-fives given them during team meetings, you thought were great employees, much appreciated by the company.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Time is not always translated to money as directly as you may think. When ACN first opened their call center in Gwinn, Michigan, we were told to assist the customers THOROUGLY...meaning addressing their multiple problems if they had them. They very seldom complained about the wait time in the end because their issues were completely resolved. Telling your employees to address one problem and then end the call, "they'll just have to call back for any other issues they have", was a horrible decision which treated your customers as though they did not matter. Many ended their contracts with ACN due to this. When an attorney, doctor, businessman calls in with multiple lines, needing multiple fixes, you cannot possibly expect those issues to be repaired within the 30 second call-time requirements. And to ask such a valuable customer to call back for each and every line/issue they have is ludicrous and constitutes poor customer service! I know the owners/founders of the company were not one bit aware of that change, I talked to at least one of them myself and he was appalled that #1, ACN call center manager had forbid ACN customer care associates from speaking to the owners if they called (he insisted I stay on the line when he did call), and #2 was appalled that I was supposed to give him the bum's rush if he'd had more than 1 problem with his line. Awful. Simply awful. I hope those policies have changed.

    Pros

ACN's culture at the corporate office is excellent. There seem to be many opportunities for someone interested in growing their career here, and everyone is more than willing to help you learn. The company values personal growth at all levels.

    Cons

The corporate office is a bit far from the center of Charlotte, NC. Other than that, I haven't really experienced any real cons to date.

I worked at ACN full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Culture is really milked into you, almost like brain washing so you somehow think opposite of what logic would be.

    Cons

Their "Training" is just brain washing material that you're forced to watch over and over again about twice to three times a week. The national convention is the exact same thing.

There's no real support from your uplink, even if you ask for more support they just direct you to theoretical questions.

It costs $500 to join a firm. You should never have to pay a firm to work for them.

There's no pay, aside from the "commission" model they have, which doesnt give you anything until 3+ months after. You're going to be in a hole for a while, or forever.
