I have been working at ADT Security Services full-time for less than a year

Pros

Branding is the best helper in getting customers
Sales Management stands up for the sales staff
All sales reps have use of company ipads

Cons

Car allowance is low considering the cost of gasoline
Depending on the sharpness of individual reps, you will either sink or swim...there is not much middle ground

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Advertise in Canada similarly as they do in the States

    I worked at ADT Security Services full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    job stability and ok benefits

    Cons

    No movement, same personel doing the same job for years and years, sometimes even until retirement.No advancement opportunities for the younger generation. Lack of recognition and reward. Pay Vs Effort don't necessarily go hand in hand. Working hard is a must but recognition is also a must. Stuck in archaic ways.Incredible amount of backstabbing between colleagues on a constant basis. No team spirit, instead of working with each other to achieve better results, a lot of the personnel works against each other.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    There should be more job opportunities for people willing to advance. This would encourage talent to stay and not search for another job. There should also be more recognition and rewards for the people who work hard and more ways to value each and each employee in order to promote a better work environment for everyone. This would alleviate tension and reduce all the backstabbing going on.

    There are no pro's... not one, with the possible exception of medical...

    Cons

    Okay back to the title of this review:

    ".... Is it really a job if???"

    - there is no salary
    - no vacation
    - no paid sick time
    - no mileage reimbursement for miles in your personal car (and there will be a lot of them)
    - no food reimbursement for your time in the field (probably 4-8 hours a day)

    When you take these things away from the word "job" it kind of starts to look more like servitude or worse... and that's kind of what it feels like.

    This company actually never really lays people off. It just waits for you leave, presumably b/c ADT's unemployment insurance has gotten so high it can't afford the premiums anymore.

    Other items worthy of note in the cons column include Saturday work days, management style similar to Genghis Khan's, overpriced product (this is important in a commission only job), poor installations (once again, this affects your commissions), brutal turnover in the field, poor customer ratings, etc., etc., etc.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    In an economy like the one we are in now, you can make the case that the management is actually profiting off the desperation of a pained, poor, desperate workforce, but I have to tell you, if you are considering a job with this company, think twice.

    As for management, I can sense the desperation of your moves with regard to how you consistently drop pricing down close to market levels at the end of every month. I can see in the conference room how high customer turnover is plaguing the company's short and long term goals. I've watched whole sales teams recycle themselves within 18 months. Think about what you can do to improve moral at the ground level. With out that, the company's days are numbered.
