Local Experience - Good; Corporate Systems - Terrible!

Pros

The people in the local office are well versed in their specific knowledge bases; large pool of resources within the company; technical groups within the company have been very helpful and knowledgable; local management understands the challenges of working within the horrible corporate systems. In effect - the people make it possible to put up with the corporate madness.

Cons

Horrible corporate systems for managing projects - too much focus on profit and not enough focus on client satisfaction and the actual engineering/geological/etc. work that we are paid to do. Overanalysis does not equal increased profit! I have very little confidence in corporate management.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

To the corporate office - stop sending "brochure" like emails to employees. If you have to constantly
"sell" the benefits of the company to employees then you're not doing it right!

    Pros

a mediocre salary, benefits and some nice and bright people....but not all by any means

    Cons

John Dionisio and his group should go on Undercover Boss to find out what really goes on. Very little is fair and the higher ups have no idea as to what is going and where people are. Today, HR came in swinging a big hatchet. Lots of people are gone and some had been with the acquisition for a long time. There are plenty of others who should have been let go instead of some of the ones that were. There is constant unrest and almost no work. One MUST be billable but it is impossible when no work is given out. It cannot be created.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take a good hard look at what is going on as you really have absolutely no idea. I saw an article in my local paper about a job that AECOM was in the running for and it looked positively stupid. AECOM was soon taken off the list. Who approves some of this stuff. You don't have a clue except how to count your cash.

You are lost. Nobody sees you. There is glass ceiling. Working hard and performing well does not translate to growth.
