Listen to the needs of your employees with emphasis on the goals and growth potential of an individuals assessments. Keep in mind that people are the basis for the companies growth and not just the bottom line financially of the company. Above all do not let the complaints of an individual be brushed aside do to race, sex, capability, age or sexual orientation. Consider the growth of your company instead of sweeping things under the rug or out the door.

Most of the "opportunities" here are actually inaccessible.

I have been working at AECOM full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

It's a huge company, so in theory there are a lot of really interesting opportunities to move laterally within the company. The AECOM "We" works on many of the most interesting and high profile projects around the world.

    Cons

The red tape involved in moving from one project or team to another makes it seem easier to just switch employers altogether than trying to move within AECOM. A lot of the difficulties seem to come from apathy in the lower management levels, and a serious reluctance to change. It resulted in most of my brightest young coworkers quitting because they felt stuck in a rut after a couple years.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Upper management should spend less time talking about listening to the technical staff, and more time really paying attention to project/team leaders and making sure that THEY listen to technical staff.
