I have been working at AIG

    Pros

Worked in a small group within the larger AIG Investments. Investments was large and invested in a myriad of products. AIG was truly a global powerhouse. Although now it would seem that the company will be sold in parts to other insurance or financial institutions.

    Cons

Lack of communication between groups. Little shared expertise between groups.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

My advice would have been to have better knowledge sharing between groups.

I have been working at AIG

    Pros

Good exposure to the industry - you are working for one of the most dominate insurance companies in the world.

    Cons

Company is far to large and disorganized. Technology is horrible and operations are highly inefficient. Company has been running scared since Spitzer investigation and has been overrun by compliance officers and auditors. Outside of the current AIG events - the level of "compliance" is destroying the company from the inside out.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take back the company! It has been hijacked by auditors and lawyers and has been run aground. Talk to the employees that are on the front lines and give them an outlet to communicate without fear of retaliation. AIG is in a position to dominate the industry but sadly the company has created an environment where "business as usual" is promoted and innovation is discouraged.
