Pros

There are many opportunities to experience many different situations and environments. You can really get a lot of variety of experience on the job if you look for it. Since there is so many products and businesses here, you often have the opportunity to work with people normally not in your field of interest. There is alot of good supporting departments such as research and other helpful internal departments to obain expert advise.

Cons

It is often a stressful environment. You usually face sink or swim situations. There is not a lot of mentoring. It is sometimes too big to make real relationships.

Advice to Management

Show more care towards employees

    Pros

There is plenty of opportunity for advancement in AIG; however, it takes a "driven" personality to succeed. At AIG, employees are allowed to freely move between divisions. It is a tough environment to succeed, but, if you can succeed at AIG, you can do well anywhere.

    Cons

With the current situation, senior management has not given any insight into what the company is planning. As employees, we get our news from the media first, and then, we are offered a reactionary webcast, where no real information is conveyed. The new leadership of AIG has made it clear that they are not going to make any effort to retain talented employees or improve morale.

    Advice to Management

Senior management should be more open with employees. They should make an effort to improve morale and retain key employees.

  2. If you can survive at AIG you can work just about anywhere.

    Pros

Hard driving and great way to learn the industry

    Cons

Poor management structure in order to improve the culture

    Advice to Management

Adapt better to changes within the business community. Do not always assume it must be the AIG way.
