Current Employee - Duck I Out in Edison, NJ

I have been working at AIG full-time for more than a year

Pros

PTO,good bens, day 1 benefits other than that keep looking elsewhere

Cons

how can a company with the name AIG have such horrible training, horrible management and no idea from day 1 what you are doing? To hire employees, common sense tells you to have a handbook of policies and procedures, some type of protocol to go by. When you have nothing from day one, you have a nightmare and disaster waiting to happen. A note to management and the higher ups, DO YOUR HOMEWORK!!! In order to succeed, you need a good environment to work in, not an environment where no one has a clue and the workflow on a daily basis always changes. This deserves a CMON MAN!!!! Sorry but i do have to speak my mind and will let anyone know that is interested in working for this company, look elsewhereor you will be jumping ship quicker than you can say, Can i go now?

I worked at AIG full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Friendly people, nice office space/cubicle. The location in Houston try to motivate employees by having contest, giveaways and food ect.

    Cons

Pay is low. It is hard to move around and there is no clear structure for you to follow if you want to move up. They pay outside employees more than the loyal employees that have been with the company for year. There are people that have been with the company for 15 plus years still doing case coordination
(data entry/customer service) making less then 38K . They have been talking years about starting a cross training program which has yet to go into affect

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management should start a mentoring program so that they can motivate people to do bigger and better things within the company. I dont think an employee should be working in a call center for 10 plus years. Sometimes the Manager has to step in and start prepping that person for something better. Some ppl are afraid to move around because they are not educated or have a low self esteem. I think this is where a mentoring program would be great.
