Pros

International Presence.
Financial Strength
Brand Image
Horizontal Job Opportunities
Vertical Job Opportunities
Retirement Benefits Are Excellent

Cons

Pay for Performance System Utilized The Past Two Years is essentially an episode of "Survivor" where managers in roundtable discussions who don't align themselves with other managers are at a distinct disadvantage.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Create opportunities for advancement outsdie of New York. Most of the positions we post are still in New York; one of the most expensive places to live in the U.S. and around the globe.

    Pros

Somehow AIG is still a respected company. Not sure how the place is a mess. But they have been able to propagandize themselves into a respected company. Much like Obama has as a President.

    Cons

Too many inept executives with 20+ years experience at company.

They try to instill an entrepreneurial culture by driving constant change with no direction. The result is you have a bunch of chickens running around without heads that look busy but never get anything done.

Just prior to the real estate bubble I had the CFO of my business group (who is still with the company by the way!) sit in front of an employee conference and state that the company had 'very limited exposure' to the real estate market. CLUELESS! How did that work out? I guess a $300B bailout is limited huh? Totally inept exec management team. Not much more proof needed!

Watch out for the executive in Finance with bad teeth and beady eyes if you are a female. Unless you like that of course.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Instead of having your teams write phoney reviews on here how about fixing the company by cleaning house at the top. Good QUALITY work is more important than bad QUANTITY of work.

    Pros

Decent company for a long term career with decent befits. Though went through rough times, the new management is great with forward looking attitude. Flexible in terms of work hours and remote work location options.

    Cons

Not for creativity and innovation craving folks.
