Great place to learn, you will have to leave AIR and go work for a client to earn what you’re worth

I have been working at AIR Worldwide

    Pros

Great place to learn about catastrophe risk and work on interesting problems
If you’re client-facing you get great exposure to people in the industry
Catastrophe risk management is a growing industry
Down-to-earth, positive CEO is genuinely interested in having a happy company

    Cons

Growth in value will not be compensated by growth in pay – you will have to leave AIR and go work for a client to earn what you’re worth
New ideas are hard to get support for and the company fears making a mistake more than it fears not doing something great

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Reward creativity and don't be afraid to throw away the old to make room for the new
Focus on rewarding and retaining talent
Don't have the same employees who were the decision-makers for AIR's current software be the decision-makers for AIR's future software

    Approves of CEO

    I worked at AIR Worldwide

    Pros

Location, it was better though.Free coffee,
Better than unemployment. Good place to start if you have no other options.

    Cons

Crowded noisy office. Management decisions in favor of "privileged" category. People are leaving quickly. As a result software department is dominated by low skilled developers. This is impossible to change, it went too far. :-\

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    1. Try to read and understand company's policy. Bring HR if something is unclear.
    2. Try to figure out what are the key products. Check resources allocation, you will be surprised.
