Pros

Steelmaking is a very interesting process. If you are interested in working on projects, there are many challenging and interesting opportunities to enhance the process. There are a number of unique positions, so if you like change you can fill a number of different roles while staying with the same company.

Cons

If you do no want to be micro managed, do not work for AK Steel. It is insane that a department manager responsible for 250+ employees has a purchase approval level of $2.00. If you do not want to do nothing more than record observations of people, then do not be a Shift Mgr. at AK Steel.

Advice to Senior Management

Either trust and let your middle management manage, otherwise you might as well replace them with baby sitters at a much lower cost.
