Doesn't Recommend
No opinion of CEO

Pros

flexible hours, access to top minds and contacts in the health care industry, opportunities for long-term career growth, good perks

Cons

No collaboration, very stuffy environment, frustrating lack of progress on projects - stifling bureaucracy. Crappy cafeteria food. Many employees not invested in the mission.

Advice to Management

Senior management must be willing to go out on a limb to make some genuine progress in the world of health care. A "protect your turf, protect your doctors" approach is not going to continue to draw talent or be sustainable.

    Pros

Good benefits and the city of Chicago is very nice. The ethics department where I work is very flexible and allows a good family-work balance.

    Cons

poor pay and poor opportunities for promotion. The AMA has a large lobbying arm, so ideologically, they are quite skewed to protecting physician interests rather than patient or public health interests.

    Advice to Management

    more pay
