I worked at AMD full-time (more than 5 years)

- Industry average pay, relax working environment, flexible hours. Some smart, nice and hard workers, some managers and their teams are very sloppy, long term work from home, do nothing but made a lot of noises to claim credit.

- Company is totally mismanaged. When you join this company, you will be surprised so many no technical skill set advocates, managers, directors and VP. Also so many work from home unproductive PMs, engineers and useless only talk people.

- You need to sharp your politic skills in order to get involved in big projects, otherwise get ready to work on your resume and work somewhere.

- Sadly seen awesome talented people left or cut by politics. Now development team consist of mediocre, pre-retirees and very talkative politicians.

- Middle management built very good caste system, yearly layoff only cut developers and re-hire new staffs in following quarter.

- You may not have good manager. Hard work not recognized. Promotion and raise only for loudest noise makers or their warm body.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

- Pay more attention in business than pinch any penny from employees. You hired some good people, let them do their jobs, not encourage them to quit.

- Flat organization, hire more developers and gut many useless and fat salary advocates, managers and directors and VPs. AMD is not propaganda machine. Eventually you need good products to survive.
