Growth by Acquisition and/or Welcome to the Ametek Family

Berwyn, PA

Current Employee – been working at AMETEK full-time for more than 3 years

ProsOnce your company is acquired, say good-bye to at least 5% of your co-workers. This is good because it makes the office seem much less crowded. Pay cuts and other cost cutting measures will be necessary to achieve the new lofty profitability goals. This is also good, because workers really can have too much money. Don't worry, the explanations for the cost reductions will provide humor in an otherwise unhappy workplace.

You are free to leave as soon as you find a new job. Just don't let the door hit you in the back on your way out.

ConsAmetek is a profitable company that works very hard at keeping its operating expenses as low as possible. Unfortunately, employees are not a valued resource. Industry average wages will be replaced with below average wages. 40 hours a week is the minimum, unless you are a manager and then 35 hours is acceptable.

Layoffs and pay cuts are used to meet the unrealistic/inflated profitability goals. Of course morale suffers as a result of these cost cutting measures. There is a general lack of honesty throughout the entire Ametek organization. The corporate IT department thinks Lotus Notes is a state of the art email program.

Advice to Senior ManagementYou can only sh!t on your people for so long.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company
