I worked at AMK9 as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Pay was 104k plus 10%, 30 day vacation twice a year. Great company to start your contracting career as a dog handler, trainer or Kennel Master. Depending on deployment location hours can be very good to very bad. DOD contracts state 72 hours per week, a good Kennel Master will be creative to keep hours low. I had guys were they only had to work 20 hours a week, but had other guys at smaller Forward Operation Bases that worked the entire 72 hours because the contract only allowed 2 EDDH and 1 NDH.

    Cons

Started hiring third world handlers. AMK9 went down hill when they allowed handlers from Zimbabwe, and Chilli. Stopped paying during vacation (pay didn't go down, they just adjusted the pay to 10 months vs 12 months).

    Advice to Management

Hire quality personal, vet the handlers, trainers and Kennel Masters better. Provide support and training when required.
