I have been working at ARAMARK full-time (less than an year)

Pros

it is mostly a day time position.....summers are off....

Cons

some people are promoted because of friendship.....not because they are good at what they do....or know how to run a kitchen....

the uniforms are awful....ugly...hot....uncomfortable to wear.....
you have to ware a hat.....its hot....ugly.....makes you look stupid....
the tops are made for men...and don't fit women well......you get the sleeves caught on things....

Advice to ManagementAdvice

learn to listen to your customers......i this case it is college age kids......they don't want fancy food...just good food.....

get down off your high horse.....just because your college educated does NOT mean you know everything......some good and knowledgeable people work here.....who have done this a time or two.....and they know a thing or two.....that you don't know.....if you keep pushing them aside....they will find work elsewhere.....

pay them well........
give them their mass layoff number to file for unemployment so they don't have to wait 4 or 5 weeks for their first check......after all ..... you have that number ALREADY...this happens every summer

I worked at ARAMARK full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

good benefits, weekends and holidays off and high pay are make this company a good place to work. Travel to do training and opening events is fun and rewarding if you don't mind being away from your family. Good training.

    Cons

Old computer systems, worthless company applications, excess documentation make the job tedious and boring at times. Middle management often makes poor decisions based on little solid information. No communication going up the command chain.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Ditch the cost food control programs they do not work to save money. Focus on the food quality, not the cheapest way to do business. Get back to the fresh food approach, stop purchasing cheap frozen foods.

I have been working at ARAMARK full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Daytime hours, no nights or weekends decent bennies

    Cons

they could be a bit more generous with the "merit" raises. 1.5% increase a year doesn't come close to covering the increase cost of gas, insurance, interest rates, utilities .....

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

appreciate your basic kitchen crews more, its their hard work that earns you Your bonuses.
