    Pros

Aryzta begins with "A" so easy to find in a directory. At middle management and below, some great people trying to do the right thing. Easy to get a job with them - they'll take anyone! If you can work there, you can work anywhere.

    Cons

Without doubt, in over twenty five years of working the food industry, this is by a county mile the worst company I have ever worked for. There is no care for the people that work in the organisation. There are no opportunities for personal development and no opportunity for wage/salary increase. It really is a company run by accountants from their luxury offices in Zurich. It's a numbers game. Everything must be done faster and cheaper with no support to help you achieve this. The company restructured (though no-one ever saw an organisation chart) more times than I could count, and in the twelve months or so that I was with them, there were no fewer than 71 changes of managers at just one site - Dunstable, UK. The shift managers, production managers and unit managers had no respect from the work-force and the operation was completely out of control. Machines were run until they fell apart and then the engineers were expected to fix them immediately so they could be run till they fell apart again. There was no planned maintenance. Hygiene and Technical standards were abysmal, like something from the 1950s. Firefighting was the norm with panic knee jerk reactions to external and internal pressures. The senior management style is through fear, bullying and relentlessness. It may well be the third largest bakery company in the world, but it will fall over at some point very soon as there is ZERO investment in people, processes, infrastructure, organisation, values and culture.

    Advice to Management

Stop. Just stop and draw breath. Look at this company that you have got and try to make it joined up. There is no feeling of belonging, of being part of something, of feeling valued. People are your biggest asset, invest in them. Invest in them now and you invest in your future. You could be a great company, I suspect you're going to make a pile of money in the short term but there is no longevity to the model. Bullying and intimidation are not how businesses work now.
