Pros

Compensation was fair but confusing

Cons

Management only cares about the numbers, but hey, that’s all sales positions.

Advice to Management

Numbers are important, but maybe have open communication with consultants on how to obtain. You may be pleasantly surprised.

    Pros

    Competitive wages and benefits
    Talented managers
    Respectful work environment
    Highly mechanized systems
Executive Leadership is savvy and smart
    Strong emphasis on continuing training

    Cons

The biggest downside is Sr. Management's failure to embrace telecommuting. AT&T promotes sustainable business practices. Yet leadership requires employees in my organization in the office. This means more cars on the road and time lost traveling to and from work.

    Advice to Management

As a leading telecommunications provider, AT&T should actively promote and permit the use of alternative work locations by its managers across all organizations.

  2. Terrible Job to have unless it's a last resort...

    Negative Outlook
    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

Good experience with co-workers (dependent on location)
    Good benefits
    Free Phone/phone bill

    Cons

    Terrible hours/Extremely Volatile schedule
Commission has been cut down to nearly nothing.
No relational interaction with anyone higher than store mgr.
Almost impossible to advance, you are stuck at bottom level.
    unrealistic goals
the company sets you up for failure with pricing/features in relation to goals.

    Advice to Management

Begin to value your employees as more than a set of numbers and letters that are used to identify them (attuid). Actually spend time in the store location, talking with the customers to determine actual needs then base goals off those realistic opportunities. Reward your employees when they exceed goals, and don't just focus on the negatives when they fall short (bad months do happen).

Go back to previous commission plan where the employees have a legitimate chance to earn good money for their time and effort. Currently there is no incentive to exceed goals, you cant make money!

Most of all, eliminate the scripts the employees are forced to recite with customers. Nobody likes to be approached by employees that sound like robots. It's going to directly lead to bad customer experiences and a lack of "completely satisfied" customers due to a non-personal feeling.
