Current Employee - Account Executive in Los Angeles, CA

I have been working at AT&T full-time (more than 5 years)

Pros

Good benefits and Pension plan. Name brand with deep pockets.
Longevity is rewarded with additional vacation and pay increases.
Great products, such as phones and uverse tv.
Upper management really talented.

Cons

Difficult to move up unless middle management likes you.
Middle Management talks a good game but they do only care about their own success.
Too much politics so nothing ever really gets done as people are afraid to share their opinions. Pay is based on tenure and not really on results so you have people that are weak earning much more than producers. Expected to work on days off and work life balance is really bad.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pick the best people for the jobs.
If you find someone good give them a shot and pay them what their worth.
Be open to new ideas and allow creativity,

    I worked at AT&T full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The money was good really good for a sales position and they had great health benefits as well.

    Cons

They has really high turnover rate and most people didn't stick around very long. Had 5 managers over two years and they all subpar. Not much room for growth.

  2.

    Expect to be expendable.

I have been working at AT&T full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Pay and benefits are good even though both are declining at a rapid pace. Wow! I need to fill this up with twenty words? That should do it. Not a lot of pros.

    Cons

Changing culture in which management expects more and more. Business plan is a failing one and bad moves by upper management (i.e. trying to buy T-Mobile) will not trickle, but gush down to the bottom and effect your goals.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you are going to make a sales metric part of our goals, how about you pay us for it. Just saying. The month I got laid off for not hitting my sales metrics I was second in the store for commission. I've never seen a place where a stretch goal was lower than a quota. Well, not until I worked for AT&T.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook
    Disapproves of CEO
