Everyone says "what a great job this used to be."

Customer Service Representative (Current Employee) Bothell, WA

Pros*True entry-level position in technical support
*It's a good resume builder
*Training staff is (mostly) good
*Middle management can be great

Cons*Lack of consistency in quality of management
*It's easy for "entry-level" to become "dead end"
*Benefits and wages could be better for the stressful and frequently difficult work environment
*Scheduling flexibility is a joke- unless you have seniority, it's difficult to get a schedule that doesn't involve working early, late or on weekends
*Budget cuts have changed the work environment; incentives & perks in the workplace have been mostly removed (such as coffee in the kitchens)
*Constant upheaval and reorganization makes it difficult for workers to be proficient in their jobs

Advice to Senior ManagementYou're always trying to identify how to improve the customer experience. In order to have happy customers you need to have happy employees. People who enjoy their jobs and are happy to come to work will make that extra effort that you're constantly seeking from your customer-facing service employees.
