Pros

Benefits, benefits, benefits! Full medical, over 80 hours of paid vacation, free company phone, 50% off discount off of your your consumer account, and union. Great salary plus uncapped commission potential.

Cons

Very hard to get a lateral transfer, too much politics, company under appreciates their employees. Very poor attendance remorse system (i.e no sick days) Any paid time off has to be requested/approved in advance, otherwise you have to go through Family Medical Leave Act or get penalized.

Advice to Management

Fix the attendance system, give employees x amount of sick days before you penalize them. Show appreciation for your team by having team outings (i.e bowling, dave and busters, buffalo wildwings, etc.)

    Pros

Get the training and experience, then leave for better company. Do not let money trap you.

    Cons

Employees are treated like two year olds or prisoners or felons. Managers in CA are hell bent on forcing retirement on everyone eligible or else they will "write them up" and start the "process". I have witnessed what amounts to age discrimination on more than one occasion.

    Advice to Management

STOP THE INSANITY!!! You are pushing the core to the point of a total melt down. Is it a plan? Are you trying to force everyone out to bring in contractors at lower rates with no benefits? Contractors will not take ownership of the plant and facilities and the whole system will break down. STOP NOW!!! Apologize for your actions and treat your core with respect.

    Pros

Great place to look for a better job while still making good money. Somewhat flexible hours. Telecommuting opportunities.

    Cons

Impossible to get fired. Impossible to get hired as an FTE. Management doesn't want to deal with problems or issue people until other people or departments start to notice them. Technology is old and outdated. More often than not, quick bandaids will be applied to fix technology issues 'for now'. Money will be constantly wasted on projects that will go no where or eventually will be scraped. Long hours, which include working weekends. Management refuses to pay overtime. Attrition is high - good talent doesn't stay long once they learn how chaotic the work environment is.

    Advice to Management

Good talent needs to be hired as an FTE instead of being a multiple year contractor.
