I have been working at AT&T full-time

Pros

Work life balance is pretty good Good amount of vacation time

Cons

Rank and file get zero palatable recognition High deductible health plan Line of 'just be thankful you have a job' is often used by managers as an excuse for poor compensation.

Advice to Management

Practice what you preach, so often what is said to the worker bees in company wide info is never really carried at any level - words without action.

    I worked at AT&T full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Decent pay. Free cell phone. Union provides great healthcare.

    Cons

Leadership has a tendency to whip employees instead of motivate them. Leadership hides behind lies such as "the union won't allow it".when the union does. Attendance points have strings attached to them. Have to plan out two months in advance to get a day off. If you use a day off you get a point. If you're sick you get a point. If you have bereavement somehow management decides to give you a point. The values they train you on in new hire training get thrown out the window as soon as you hit the sales floor. Promises for higher up job opportunities are typically given to someone out of state.

    Advice to Management

Motivate your employees. Be your own boss. Realize you control your environment not the share holders. Doing this will result ina much happier and productive sales force.
