I have been working at AT&T (More than a year)

    Pros

Medical and Dental benefits for part time, a little flexibility in retail hours, compensation is good, Training is the best part of the experience. Reimbursement for classes. Step increases basciallly every 6 months. Vacation earned

    Cons

no flexiblity in attendance. If it is not a scheduled day which has to be done 30 days prior, than it is a point period. With the exception of death in the immediate family. SALE SALE SAle or get written up. Glad to not be a sales rep so there is no quota. Reimbursement for classes only after a year of employment. Benefits are pricey and not that good

    Advice to Management

Please make sure to mentor those that desire to grow. It is not a streamlined process

I worked at AT&T as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Compensation is competitive, flexible with telecommuting, understanding when family issues crop up and giving time off when needed.

    Cons

Relentless meetings! Meetings are so prevalent that it makes getting work done very difficult. The unorganization of the area in which i worked was so maddening as to be comical. Projects are en endless loop of frustrating rework. There are no clear boundaries or directions and projects seem to never end. Management unwilling to purchase needed resources needed to make projects move forward. Consequently work is poorly done and takes way longer than it should. The endless meetings are a factor here too..

    Advice to Management

Listen to the needs of your employees and honor some of their requests. Also possibly don't invite unnecessary people to meetings. It's amazing any work gets done at all due to this meeting-mad compan.
