I have been working at AT&T full-time for more than a year

Pros

AT&T is actively working to implement open technologies and become more of a tech company and less of a telecomm. There are amazing opportunities to have your work have a massive effect

Cons

It's still AT&T, and it is still a HUGE battleship that moves slow. If you're looking to get in and make big changes right away, look elsewhere. The most frustrating thing is when you can successfully make lasting change in your group and that change is negated by your own management up the line or parallel groups

Good pay, but that won't even want to make you stay...

I have been working at AT&T full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

As an RSC you get paid a lot for not doing much.
Keep up your numbers every month and you'll be fine.
    Easy to sell.
    Company phone.
Discount on some company products and services.
    Paid vacation days.
    Great insurance coverage.
    401k.

    Cons

Must work weekends and most holidays.
    Retail schedule. Typically from 10am - 9pm.
Monthly push for specific products that don't have any effect on your commission.
Incompetent managers who are pawns of upper management
Horrible communication between employees and upper management.
Horrible union that does nothing to help when your union rights have been violated.
They promote from within, but they promote those who can be easily manipulated to do what upper management wants. You need to play that game if you want to be promoted here.
Hard work here only pays off with your commission, not even that sometimes.
Commission structure changes every year so that RSC's have it harder to make to hit goals to get higher commissions.
Commission check is combined with hourly check and is taxed by 35-40%.
Constantly harassed by RSM's and ARSM's about numbers and WTR score.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Dear AT&T Upper Management,

Instead of rethinking possible, try rethinking your management style and customer survey. I dare anyone from upper management to try and stay at 100% WTR working an entire month in a retail store as a normal RSC. Let's see you try and hit your numbers, maintain a high net rep sat and wtr, all while you are pitching every single product that is being pushed that month.
You know that saying, a happy worker is a good worker. This is truth. And working at AT&T doesn't allow you to be all that happy. The constant nagging, and push for different services that doesn't effect our pay is not effective.
Promote and hire managers that have worked as an RSC. They must have a fundamental understanding of sales and how the AT&T sales process works. They should know the ins and outs of what it takes to sell as an RSC. They should act as mentors and tutors for their employees and should not refer each question to MyCSP. We need better managers that lead and teach in positive manners.

Get sucked into retail and you'll never get out.

I have been working at AT&T full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

You get to learn about and understand cutting edge technology. Overall benefits are good; you get access to major discounts on services and are provided cell phones.

    Cons

I don't even know where to start....if you can't sell and meet absurd quotas you are hung out to dry. It is nearly impossible to get a promotion outside of retail.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't manage with fear as a motivator.

    Doesn't Recommend
    No opinion of CEO
