The company isn't great, but the coworkers are the best!

I worked at AT&T full-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

Local leadership and coworkers are the best people to work with and for. They were fantastic!

Cons

The company is terrible. They try to squeeze blood from a turnip, keeping money and benefits from front line managers and up... yet the company talks about making billions in profits.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Share the wealth. The front line managers are among the hardest working people in the company but are treated worse than anyone else.

    Pros

The pay was very competitive, it would be hard to find an entry level position offering such a good starting pay.

    Cons

No work/life balance. Too many people making varying decisions about the direction the store

  2.

    Ineffective, Political Bureaucracy

    Pros

Large enough company to find a job in an area you are interested in.

    Cons

Politics determine your pay, bonuses, upward mobility, not your talent or work ethic.
Many of the policies and methodologies for completing work are inefficient and are in effect "because that's how it's always been", not for any real business purpose at the current time.
Overall quality of employees is low.
Management ends up having no work-life balance because they have to pick up the gap in the lack of headcount or quality of employees hired by upper management who is trying to cut costs in the wrong places.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your employees and be open to change - it is the only way you will stay relevant.
