I have been working at AT&T

Pros

Excellent benefits and job security.

Cons

Poor executive and middle level management. Managers no longer move up through the ranks leaving them incapable of understanding the type of work their employes perform.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to promote managers from within and validate that middle and executive managers really understand the departments they are running.

Great program. The people that are in charge are egomaniacs.

    I worked at AT&T

    Pros

Great opportunity. You learn a lot from your co-workers and really grow as a person and a manager. They spend a ton of money on you -$135,000 per person! This money is spent on the salary, paid furnished apartment, rental car/hotel while you're out of town. Experts are brought in to teach you. It's great.

    Cons

At&t is one of the oldest most respected companies, but they are so rigid in their practices that it reminded me of Office Space. My boss actually used to go up to me and say "If you could do that that would be grrreeaaat." It's an unreal amount of work too. Lack of leadership from management really makes some of the days drag

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Practice what you preach. Don't give a speech on humility and then tell everyone how great you are. Stop cleaning tables and actually lead the group, so that everyone can leave at a reasonable hour.
