Pros

AT&T compensates you very well and provides great benefits to employees. The store locations are up kept and provide a feeling of security. Most conduct rules and guidelines are acceptable.

Cons

The entire company is still based on seniority and often ignores requests of new hires. Management is not very attentive to employee concerns.

Advice to Management

Management should take notice of employee concerns and not only focus on their number goals. It is not possible for them to reach their goals without the employees that work for them.

    Pros

You can move around into different positions. As you move around your pay tends to go up. Lots of vacation time can build up. One of the few companies that provide a cash pension plan and a 401k plan with limited matching.

    Cons

They over divvy what typical jobs like backup/unix/dba into very limited functional positions. In a lot of cases the company tries to map out exactly what a DBA or Unix admin should do, and leave the other issues by the wayside. They also outsource a lot of technical positions to India and Eastern Europe, at the expense of an Unix admin position here in the US. I have seen several technical people leave after many years of dealing with a heavy beauracracy that seems more byzantium and mysterious in functionality than the federal government.
