Pros

I have been working at AT&T full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Pay is pretty decent for not having to dig ditches.
Company gets new and innovative products.
Good benefits (most people stay because of the benefits package).

    Cons

Get promoted based on who you know.
    Terrible management.
No real leaders just a bunch of puppets running the show and not using reason or leadership skills to motivate employees.
The company comp structure changes enough where it is almost impossible to make more money.
The company is not on the cutting edge of technology or plans (typically follows in Verizons footsteps).
Reps are forced to sell flawed products such as home phones and services that dont get installed and then written up for not hitting quotas.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat employees as assets not liabilities. Anyone can take the easy road and just discipline employees for numbers, how about try to motivate them to reach their goals instead of intimidating and threatening. Very cover your @ss attitude by management where they will do anything to get recognition and do nothing to deserve the recognition.

Late to the game, but trying very hard

I have been working at AT&T

    Pros

The senior management works hard to inspire their employees and they are working on "eating their own dog food" meaning that virtual offices are becoming more and more the norm.

    Cons

They tend to embrace the latest fad in business roughly 3 years after it has hit mainstream and often jump from fad to fad.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start with why you are doing what you are doing... they why should be something other than increase profit and you might gain more traffic in brand loyalty and respect in the marketplace.
