Pros

Competitive pay, advancement opportunity, flexibility on where you work, lots of different jobs within the company.

Cons

The upper management in the Charlotte area put a lot on their individual store managers and do not inspire and engage their workers. The hours are retail so they are not very flexible. Ultimately it all depends on who you work for within the company.

Advice to Management

Spend more time showing your managers how you want things done as opposed to just telling them and expecting them to figure it out. Communicate instead of just ordering. You will get much better results. Also if you need to coach someone, do so in a respectful, private manner, not in front of their peers.

    Pros

A great company to work for in order to hone your sales talent. You have to familiarize yourself with a variety of products and will learn how to pitch and market them to an extremely broad customer base. Decent pay and great benefits.

    Cons

Management is very weak. People tend to be promoted for the tenure and not their talent. In the most recent years, employees have become merely a replaceable number.

    Advice to Management

I've seen some great talent leave through the doors because of the lack of recognition and compensation.

    Pros

Good pay, benefits and decent technology.

    Cons

The SBC mentality is ruining morale, at least for former AT&T employees.
at&t is AT&T in name only -- in reality, it is actually SBC and BellSouth. The mentality is Texas based (vs NJ) and what ever was the former local operating company.

    Advice to Management

Better learn to move more quickly. Smaller competritors are much more nimble.
But SBC management can do whatever it wants. AT&T is now SBC -- that's just the way it is...
