Not bad...

Former Employee - Sales
Former Employee - Sales

I worked at AT&T full-time (more than a year)

Pros

Decent pay, good benefits, good advancement opportunities, will often promote from within. Overall a pretty good place to work. You have to do a lot of learning opportunities, some online. Not bad overall.

Cons

Like any retail place, the hours can stink. Managers tend to come in and out

    Pros

Stable company, lots of different technical areas in which to work. Company has a good policy/attitude towards lateral moves between groups. Their telecommuting policy is quite good. People in work groups can be spread across several states - there's generally no pressure to have groups located in one geographical area.

    Cons

This is a big company (currently #11 in the Forbes 500), so there's the expected bureaucracy. There is a ton of required internal (mostly web-based) training.

    Advice to Management

Embrace a more modern "web" attitude. Use more open source, rather than proprietary software.

    Pros

Always willing to train and keep employees informed of new products, new software, and willing to go the extra mile for each employee.

    Cons

Every job now has a mandate to sell something.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work.
