I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Free cell phone good schedule with seniority and great benefits, medical, dental, vision, tuition reimbursement (after one year)

    Cons

Micromanaged to death, you have managers doing observations on your sales pitches and god forbid if you miss one of the 10 metrics you have to hit. Typical interaction a customer walks in you have to exchange names, walk them to a strategic product wall (tablets, wireless home phone, mifis) and try to sell them on one even if they are just in for a billing issue then the selling them stuff they don't need continues on to tv services and now an alarm system. Lets say they just want to upgrade you have to offer the NEXT program which is an absolute scam and you feel horrible selling it to people that cant afford the phone in the first place. So the customer wants no accessories you have to get four anyway before management will let you in the back to get the phone then they ask you why are you not selling this or that or hey take this tablet out there anyway really? Oh and god forbid you have a medical emergency like some of my coworkers that have needed to go to the hospital for serious medical conditions even left in an ambulance, sorry you almost died but here is an attendance point. The managers are typically cool but the pressure from upper managers to hit numbers trickles down and it wears them down as well. P.S. Feature slamming is prevalent insurance is $6.99 not $9.99 most customers are getting ripped off by an added $3 so called tech support they don't need but aren't told about as optional because we have to meet this metric as well, lawsuit waiting to happen.

    Advice to Management

Stop coming up with bright ideas to close customers and step into our sales, lets see how good you are closing people on overpriced products and useless innovations.

  2. Great services and technology, lacks internal company culture.

I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great services and and devices. Goods benefits.

    Cons

Poor life and work balance. Wages do not increase with cost of living increases. No room for advancement. Lots of micro managing creates high stress and turn over. Constant understaffing.

    Advice to Management

Stop micro managing and lead by example. Hire upper management that has actually worked in a retail environment.
