AT&T – “AT&T -- offers good benefts and work/family balance”

Pros

AT&T offers good benefits, supports good balance between family and work, and is open to employees moving across organzations for professional growth. It is dfficult to get in as they do not hire too often from the outside, but if you land a job there, there will be opportunities to broaden your skill set by working in a variety of areas across product lines.

Cons

Due to its size, it is a highly structured company , with many layers making decision-making and implementation slow. In years past, AT&T was also increasingly supportive of VO or workers working remotely. However, with the last merger, the corporate culture changed and it appears to not be as supportive of VO.

Advice to Senior Management

Jobs at AT&T aresometimes too narrow or compartmentalized and thus have limited span of control and influence. Broaden job responsibilities and span of control to increase work empowerment, ownership and accountability. This would also expedite decision-making process in the company and may quicken AT&T's time to market with new products and services. I would also recommend that the company be supportive of workers working remotely as it once was a few years ago.
