Pros

Easy money for the line of work

Cons

Micro management is beyond ridiculous. Too focused on sales and not around the customer as a whole

Advice to Management

Hire and train better managers

  1. Incompetent micromanagement and penny pinching; they want to outsource all jobs.

    Pros

High pay and generous union benefits. In this one department we can take time off when we like, but no other group I know of can.

    Cons

Endless additional rules, requirements, roadblocks, monitoring, tracking, threats...No real job security because they shake up everything as if last quarter's priorities mean nothing this quarter. They expect ever increasing productivity but lease cheaper trucks which aren't designed to do the work we do. One day they suddenly acted as though upper management had just found out that we handle lead jacketed cable (lots of the old stuff is lead) and issued a bunch of rules and procedures, effective immediately, but we have never received the now mandatory gloves, hazmat suits, respirators, etc.

    Advice to Management

There's no point, they aren't listening.

    Pros

Some stability, depending on a group. Good people that are bellow management.

    Cons

Outdated processes, systems, technologies, management style. Management, in particular, is bureaucratic and pretentious. Impossible to grow. Semi-annual and annual reviews are biased and restrictive.

    Advice to Management

Allocate more money and overall attention towards technologies used for development and processes. Change the reviewing system or completely remove it.
