Pros

If you can act & groom up like a decent human being, you can probably be hired by a AT&T Wireless Store.

Cons

Soul crushing agony - you are literally selling cell phones, day after day after day. Everything in the business environment openly encourages you to scam customers.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

You might consider putting a little less stress on micro managing the weekend sales figures, and put more focus on improving the customer experience for the other five days of the week.

    pay was decent
    good benefits
    looks good on your resume

    constant layoffs
    unqualified managers
    way too much politics
    business is dying
    lack of mobility and cross training for other departments

    don't get drunk with authority...if you're not union, you're technically management..too many managers get delusional with their title

    Pros

    Financially healthy company.
    Moving aggressively into new technologies, especially in mobility.
    Good benefits.
    Strong (if temporary) telecommuter program.
    Wide choice of locations, for some jobs

    Cons

    The company is still divided into non-cooperative silos, despite all the talk about "one AT&T".
    Telecommuter policy in some departments rescinded after takeover by SBC. Some senior management value headcount in the cubicle farm more strongly than metrics of real performance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Remained focused on employees, and expand telepresence to the individual level: telecommuting both for AT&T's internal people and as a new flagship product line for customers.
