Pros

If you plan on spending a long time with one company and want to build a long term career, this is a great place for you. The LDP program gives you lots of exposure to different projects. Once you become an "LDP" you are branded as someone who is a fast tracker and you will be tapped for various opportunities over your peers. Also has some great benefits.

Cons

Can be very bureaucratic (the downside of working at any large company). To succeed, you have got to have that "go-getter" attitude. Don't expect for anyone to hand you anything. If you want to advance in the company, be prepared to spend a lot of time in Dallas. Promotions are also sparse. The union is an absolute headache to work with. Unfortunately there is little you can do about this. Just put in your time with the management rotation, and quickly move on.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

While management has a good understanding of what's happening at headquarters, they fail to understand other parts of the US.

    Cons

they monitor u constantly, they pick fault with everything, they treat operators like they dont matter, managers have said we dont care, they make rules you should follow but break there own rules when it suits them, they take back all the time, they took back my free medical and phone
i recieved for 25 years service, they have a union, but union does nothing to help, worked last year and a half without a contract, they dont care about there employees or there customers they want you to get red of the customer asap.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

start caring about your customers and employees and stop blaming your employees for your faults

I have been working at AT&T

    Pros

Full time employment in a hard economic area.

    Cons

Pressure almost daily. Management will do what it takes to further themselves even if it requires throwing others under the bus. Motivate by fear.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Find out what the front line employees deal with. Don't ask Upper Management. Go live and work the front line.
