Used to be great company, now tied up with processes, too fast growth and top management mistakes

Pros

Great team, product used and appreciated by so many people globally and helping people (free product)

Cons

Disconnect between top management and personnel - primarily cultural (American vs Europe), too many incompetent hires in top mgmt mean too frequent changes in strategy

I worked at AVG Technologies full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Major brand so it is good for the CV/Resume, was able to work in Prague, Czech Republic (one of the most beautiful cities in the world), some friendly people in the office

    Cons

Complete lack of effective organization, leadership and direction. Plans seemed to change on a minute-by-minute basis with little or no information being disseminated throughout the company. Most upper management seems to have ulterior motives, fixated on personal gains rather than the overall success of the company. Serious cultural communications issues between the 'western' employees (mostly Americans and Brits) and the Czech employees; no efforts being made to enhance cross-cultural communications within the company. Focus is entirely on short-term gains rather than long-term growth.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

After working there for a year and a half I can honestly say the only way to fix this mess is a radical and complete organization change from top to bottom. The company cannot continue on a long-term basis the way things are run right now. CEO and most of the executive team needs to be replaced with far more experienced people.
