There is no opportunity for advancement unless you reside in IL. You must also have no opposition to kissing ass. It's the place to work if you really aren't fully competent at your job, but know how to schmooze the right people.

Advice to Senior Management

Honestly, the Sr. Management at Abbott needs to snap into reality and value the employees who actually deserve it. I've seen way too much of promoting people who don't deserve it, and some really bad business decisions. It also wouldn't hurt if they grew their own pipeline using the many scientists they have and stopped relying solely on buying smaller companies with successful compounds to survive.
