I have been working at Abbott full-time (more than 10 years)

Pros

Offers many admitties like fitness center, on site daycare facility. Provides a safe work environment and keeps employees trained. Keeps employees informed of company accomplishments.

Cons

Tends to keep members of management restricted in the ablitiy to reprimand employees. Doesn't necessarily keep employees included in decisions that may effect their jobs.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be honest and forthcoming with reasons for decisions that are made about future of affected areas.

    can give more space to interns to explore more topics and studies to work with. It may help company'y future plans since some students come up with brilliant ideas.

    Part of Abbott umbrella, potential for growth
    Good co workers

    Cons

    Hectic environment
    Revolving door mentality
    70% travel = 100% travel and when not traveling, you are stuck in the phone bank, answering panicked phone calls, no time for office work, expense reports, etc
    Long hours, low pay

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Value your employee more, think of them as resources to grow - not warm bodies to replace
