Abercrombie & Fitch – “Love/ Hate Relationship”
Pros
- Fun, outgoing enviroment
- Know whats expected of you, and detailed position
- Build solid long lasting relationships
- Good benefits
- Comfortable work attire, even at higher management... jeans and shirt with flip flops or casual shoes
- Touch base with your District Manager once a week, rarely see higher rank though (+/-)
- Everything runs out of home office, so you always have or order what you need with fast turn around
Cons
- Pay is sub-par for having a four year degree
- Manage retail with 17 and 18 year old kids; remember high school? Same thing.
- Discount isn't that great, neither are the clothes
- Stressful quarterly floorsets and retail holiday, one overnight week a year for some positions
- Often poor communication and knowledge run through home office into stores
- Expected a lot of little jobs, with little time and reward to complete
- All about looks and recruiting
- Not enough man power to cover the size of the store, week ending hours are critiqued
Advice to Senior Management
4 year degree, natural look, fashionable, outgoing, confident not cocky, respectful, aspirational, responsible, and able to manage others fairly. Otherwise, rather easy to pick up as you go.
